Platoon aviation

Anyone has information about platoon aviation? They have 8 PC24 and it's a quite new biz company.
For LHS they have T&C on their website, but for FO the only info I could get is on pilotjobsnetwork and I don't know how accurate it is.
Also, they are hiring only for captains and ab initio pilots, but again no info about FO's.

Thanks

Hello,

If you have some info about the selection process I would appreciate it.
Do they pay back the FO's TR as they do with the DEC?

But I'm more interested on how is life when flying with them as a FO:
Roster
Salary
Per diems
Usual activity on the first and last rotation days
Proceedings flights
Accommodations

A little bit of the day-to-day activity.

Thank you!

Well, in their web doesn't say anything about any mandatory german language level so I suppose there is no limitation but, who knows

I trained a couple of their fresh-out-of-flight-school co-pilots last year: not a word of german from either of them…

That is good to know! So far, my observation was that all "Platoon" pilots on frequency had a German accent, that's why I posted before.

It looks like they are quite short of pilots, few days ago they where seeking for captains and ab initio pilots, and today I've seen an ad that they are also looking for FO.
The T&C about the roster and QoL looks quite good to me, but I cannot say the same about the money.

Anyone knows how are the crews feeling?

The pdf of th T&Cs posted on their job advertisement answers most of the questions.

QoL looks good as long as the positioning are within the ON duty days, that way you can get the full block days OFF at home

Well, I guess that's how it must be.
Since you are on positioning flight that must be ON duty day, otherwise you loose 2 OFF days on the preceedings flights and if its this way it sounds awful

Really? Travelling on OFF days too?
I knew Vista uses the OFF days for training, but it's the first time I hear about travelling in their OFF days.... Omg....

I applied on late March for their open First Officer position, but I haven't heard anything back from them.

Does anyone know if they have already selected their candidates, or they are still deciding them and we simply have to wait?

The Biz Jets, Ag Flying, GA, etc. section really does span the full range: from the purely private end (single-owner aircraft, family offices) through to highly commercial setups operating under EASA AOCs or equivalent. Every one of those operating models comes with different pressures and compromises: lifestyle, pay, roster control, job security, command opportunities, etc.

It’s easy to single out one policy, like the restriction of vacation days to OFF days, and call it ‘messed up’ (and fair enough, it probably is if you’re looking for long-term lifestyle balance). But in reality, private aviation always involves a trade-off between certainty and freedom.

On the purely private side, there’s often more money, more last-minute changes, and far less formal HR protection. In the more commercial setups, you might get structured leave and proper rostering, but it’s often at the cost of salary, flexibility, or the feeling that you’re just another cog in a machine.

Each of us is ultimately balancing:
  • Short-term sacrifices vs long-term goals
  • Lifestyle needs vs financial needs
  • Building PIC time vs flying newer, more high-profile aircraft
  • Freedom vs security

There’s no perfect setup. Only the one that fits where you are now; and where you want to get to.

Worth remembering, especially when we read these operator reviews: they’re a snapshot, and they reflect what matters most to the poster at that particular point in their career.

Hi would you mind sharing your experience if you have done the interview already? I applied for the FO position, didn’t hear back yet.

Good too read. At least they put safety ahead of National Pride. Which is more than can be said of others.
