Sorry, no idea but curious.

Your company is really contemplating to fly there? I am aware some Turkish operators fly to Libya.

What is your insurance take on this?

I am sure you are aware of https://safeairspace.net/tomes/wp-co...Y-AIC-5-23.pdf

Sorry to go off thread but the mention of Spriggs Payne brings back many memories. When I last saw the runway, some 50 years ago, it was good. Shortly after that the airport management was nationalised and the airport started a slow descent into disrepair, hastened by a coup or two.

The Liberian government decided to extend the original runway to improve payload for F28s. “Simples” to use a current term, just dig out one end, lay the sub-base, then tarmac.

During this work never heard mention of a displaced threshold. Approaching Ghana Airways F28, with everything hanging down, aiming for the start of paved surface, one or more of the landing gear wheels impacted on the up standing start of the original runway paved surface, just after the extension had been excavated. Apparently a very short landing! The departure was somewhat (weeks) late!

As we often said “WAWA”, West Africa Wins Again!

I am, thanks - not exactly new to the game....

Have been to Liberia/Monrovia (and most countries of Africa) quite a few times over the last 33 years, but never in Spriggs Payne. Had several ride alongs with AK47 bearing dudes to the Mamba Point hotel....anyhuw, this part of our journey has been cancelled because of travel times to the site to be visited. There is nothing but traffic jams in Monrovia and especially to and from the airport, thus the idea by a local business partner to use Spriggs Payne came up. The restrictions alone on T/O and LDG direction plus the google maps images... well, I´m happy not to go there.

Happiness is V2 at.....
