SVFR LHR Zone
Aware of these awful and worrying times for us all, it is a nice change to hear the purr of single-engine piston planes along with airliners above my garden in Heathrow zone. They must be getting a great view of London and parks from 1000 feet or so in this amazingly clear weather! I guess this is all possible through a SVFR clearance from LHR and plan to ditch in Thames if the donkey quits similar to heliops? How does one go about applying for this treat?

It doesn’t necessarily have to be SVFR anymore, as the zone is now class D and has been for a good few years.
No prior approval required, contact Heathrow Radar (used to be “Special”) on 125.625 and ask for transit X to Y and see what they say. Not sure “throwing it in the Thames” counts and there are still several R areas around to watch out for.
