Accommodation in Sion

Hi,

Question to NetJets pilots:

Which hotel do you usually stay when in Sion?

Best Regards,

Yogi

not netjets but some recommendations:
if your handler is TAG: they offer you some local hotels with good rates:
one of them is "bains de saillon" - our preferred one since their rate gets you access to the entire spa as well
the other is "hotel de vignes" - does not have the spa bonus, but a great alternative in case the other one is full.
depending on how long you stay, you can also go up to crans-montana for some skiing.

There are a lot of possibilities, from the relatively basic and inexpensive (by Swiss standards) to the opulent. Bains de Saillon is pretty decent but definitely not "in town" (about 20m drive 40 min public transport), If you can state your requirements I'm happy to give you some pointers.

Get the bus up the hill to Crans Montana. Plenty of smaller hotels and chalets en-route and the view from your bedroom window in the morning is worth the bus fare. Better in my view than sitting down in the valley looking at an overcast sky.

Why do you specifically need to know where we stay?

Check Booking.com etc for reviews of properties in your price range.

The Bains de Saillon is pretty nice. Sadly I was quite ill last time I was there, so didn't eat dinner. (Not the hotel's fault!)
I have eaten in the hotel in the past, lots of choice, can be very busy but the staff was very helpful in accomodating us.
If you don't have an early start, go for a stroll to the cute little old town nearby and devour a raclette or fondue (both sorts). There's a really nice little wine cellar near the restaurant that can be quite fun. Gym and pools are an extra cost.
15 min to TAG

There's another hotel up the mountain near a chairlift. The views are amazing and there's a really nice local swiss raclette restaurant nearby.
Allow 30 min transport to TAG.

I have found TAG in Sion to be brilliant for their service and assistance. They'll know where the decent hotels are and the transport they arrange is excellent. Very reliable.

Fog or stratus is fairly rare in Valais. That being said I agree that the view is worth the effort.
