Niki Lauda always says - "he cannot give away anything"(freely translated from German/Austrian). Now I know why. Had to "scratch" the money together for his Global. Poor old man(in so many ways, only moneywise his his most certainly fine, not just because his last "deal" again selling of his thrusting employees just once more).

Would make sense if he is still sick and won't be able to fly it or even in it in the future.

How sad, Niki Lauda was such an inspirational man. He always came across as such a thoroughly descent guy whenever he was interviewed during F1 events. RIP Niki.

Time to dig out my copy of Rush and give it another viewing. Extraordinary mind power to be able to return to the drivers seat only 6 weeks after that devastating crash. What an amazing human being not only as a 3 times world champion but also his career after driving both within F1 and outside.

And he was. Met him when I was 12 or 13 year old, in the old cafeteria below Salzburg Tower, where now the GAT is. He had IIRC 2 Fokker 27 at the time. Very nice guy and he signed a card for me.
Met him again about 30 years later at the old GAT in EDDK and he still was a nice guy, we had a chat about the Challi 300 we both flew at the time.

What a pity! Saw him and his plane not long before his surgery at our home airport last fall. He was very very busy as always.
Some ten years ago I sat in the cafeteria of a simulator facility in Dallas at the table next to his. The poor guy could hardly eat his lunch because really everybody would make sure to pass by his table, greet him and have a short chat. And there are also memories of hearing him on the radio when he flew home from a Formula 1 race. Controllers would instantly recognise him and ask about the race results.
