Texas Skyways 310 Hp C182 STC

My business partner is looking for a C182. He's interested in the 310 Hp Texas skyways STC with the Continental IO-550N
Is this a better engine than the one fitted to the stock C182 (yes I know its 230 hp)
I've been told in the past that G1000 equipped airframes at least, the STC is not available due to Cessna/Garmin not allowing the avionics to interface with the engine. Is this still true.
Has anyone have experience with this mod, would it be compatible with the Sportsman STOL kit.

I fly a airplains conversion 300 hp 182. It goes like a raped ape, imho i would just get the 520 way more parts availability, cheaper, and 10hp isn't going to do much extra.
