New Fordair BBJ Capt and FO Positions in Flight International - What's up?
Just read the ad in the latest Flight International about the vacant BBJ positions at Fordair out of Stansted. What's the deal? I thought Ford was intent on selling off or replacing the BBJs with something like a Fokker 100 or a B737-300/500? Will the BBJs now be preserved - for how long?
Have former BBJ pilots been leaving Fordair - hence the new openings? Or are schedules expanding - requiring new crews? If former Fordair BBJ pilots have departed, where have they gone - Ryanair or Easyjet?
Any Fordair pilots out there want to comment? Sounds like a great opportunity for a wannable BBJ pilot with 737 time...
Cheers

C'mon - any Fordair pilots out there? Have they all left? I can't remember the user names of the 2-3 Fordair pilots I have conversed with in the past...
What's the deal with the Ford BBJs - are they now expected to stay? Have Fordair BBJ pilots left recently? If so, where did they go?
Cheers

Aaaahhhh StressFree,
Nice to hear from you again. I hope all is well with you. Look forward to the impending update when possible.
I found the Flight International ad a bit confusing considering the recent listing of the BBJs for sale on the Internet, etc.
Can't wait for clarification... Best of luck to everyone involved.
Cheers

Just heard today that they are getting rid of the BBJ's and getting 73-700's. (could be -800's but it's not really important.) It seems like people are on holiday for 3 weeks until the training starts.

Excellent, even better. A girl at Ford told me it was -300's so even the staff are wrong. -700 makes more sense though than a -300.
Anyway, who cares........

Seems as though Ford-USA has made a massive loss this year, and all departments around the world have to make some cuts to try and help the books. It's believed that the sale of the BBJ's will save something like £30 million! Unfortunately all the nice toys like HUD's and winglets will go bye the bye!
The positions are for one new F/O and one Captain, but the hour requirements are very high.
I think the new (-ish) machines are coming from Scandiavia, but I can't for the life of me remember who from.

Isn't the hour requirement for F/O's a little excessive: 4000 total and a 737NG type rating? Or is it anticipated that it will be a fast track to Command?

StressFree,
Unable to contact you on the Private Messaging System. Have the company made the decision yet for interviews? I see COPI has heard but I haven't, is that a good or a bad omen?

So Stressfree,
What's the real deal? Are you guys replacing your 2 BBJs with 737-700 airliners? I think that would be a better aircraft for the route structure - and great for job security!!!!!! What about other aircraft in your fleet - does Ford still operate the Hawker 800 - will it too be replaced?
I wish everyone involved good luck.
Cheers
