GAMA Lear 45 captains job, Farnborough base.

Gama Aviation - Lear 45 Captain

Just curious if anybody can answer;

What is a 1 in 7, 1 in 8 etc. schedule?

What does very competitive salary mean? On ppjn the start salary in 2013 for captains was listed at 42000 and this is about 10k less than Blink and this already a bad salary. What is fair to expect.

GAMA, Ryanair, an air medical operator in Sweden seen on LPJ... Seems to be a very good period for the LJ45 rated pilots!

Seems a slightly clumsy way of saying that it is standard CAP371 ftl scheme rather than some kind of rotation.

Then my next question is what is a CAP371 schedule and why is GAMA not following EASA-FTL?

And do i get it correct that the they want to give you 8 days free a month and no steady schedule? What kind of **** outfit is Gama anyway?

They are the kind of outfit that don't want or need you Son. But I wish you all the best with your application...

why is GAMA not following EASA-FTL?
Maybe because it doesn't apply to charter aircraft with less than 19 seats?

Can't say I have ever heard that number of seats has any bearing on FTLs, where's that written?

£50k is not a very competitive salary given what is on offer elsewhere...

From COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) No 965/2012
Article 8
Flight time limitations
1. CAT operations with aeroplanes shall be subject to Subpart FTL of Annex III.
2. By way of derogation from paragraph 1, air taxi, emergency medical service and single pilot CAT operations by aeroplanes shall be subject to Article 8(4) of Regulation (EEC) No 3922/91 and Subpart Q of Annex III to Regulation (EEC) No 3922/91 and to related national exemptions based on safety risk assessments carried out by the competent authorities.
From definitions
(6) ’air taxi operation' means, for the purpose of flight time and duty time limitations, a nonscheduled on demand commercial air transport operation with an aeroplane with a maximum operational passenger seating configuration ('MOPSC') of 19 or less;
Translated into English, charter aircraft <19 seats are still covered by national regulations until EASA have finished writing a whole separate FTL system for them. In an ideal world this would be good news as it recognises that there is a difference. However, I am not holding my breath for it to be either operator or pilot friendly.

@JWSCUD, Where did you get the £50.000 from?

@BizJetJock. I was under the impression that if you had aircraft with over 19 seats on your fleet (like the BBJ that Gama is operating) the whole operation was under EASA-OPS

The number was guessed from the first post.

I would expect something not far off double to be competitive.

You could well be right on the regulation, but the BBJ's are not on the UK AOC. VP registered.
