Private Jet definition

hi,

There was a guy (CEO of a charter operator) host at a radio show today and he was always saying ``private jet`` for referring at his airplanes.

The company only operate PC12's and King Air's.

The question is : is it legit to say ``jet`` when you talk about a turboprop a/c?

In my book if you talk about a ``jet`` the a/c must have jet engines on it!

Well, yes, but as you (ought to) well know, what is real and what goes on in the CEOs head are not neccessarily the same thing - particularly if they happen to be shagging the Marketing Director.

Defining non-scheduled aviation proves to be quite difficult for many reasons. Consider that national and international business aviation industry bodies are addressing the image of business aviation as an invaluable tool driving business by connecting markets, yet how many of our clients have mixed usage of both business and pleasure? But that obviously would not fit with the narrative and may bring damaging connotations. Industry research bodies rarely differentiate between CAT and NCC operators, which makes a lot of sense given the slightly fluid nature of the primary user between commercial and non-commercial operations as, from a market size perspective, HNWI and UHNWI growth serve as a reliable indicator. It will be interesting to see how much of an impact single engine TPs make once commercial IFR is fully approved. There might be many more 'private props' out there soon.

Non-scheduled aviation encompasses a lot of things and all of us. Let's cut some slack and embrace our similarities.
