Missed approach when cleared for a visual approach

Why would you do anything different initially than what you would do when flying VFR in the pattern? Fly runway heading to the pattern altitude based on your an aircraft and get a further clearance. The airport has to be VFR 100/3 to be able to issue you a visual approach. If they are not, you’ll have to request a contract approach because they can not solicit one.
