Its completely different someone having a shot while sitting next to someone that knows what they are doing in a SPA.
People unqualified getting left alone at the controls would be a bit silly.
But I suspect this won't be a problem in most GA 2-6 seater aircraft.
There is also no rules about which seat the PIC sits in unless its stipulated in the POH. But some countries will insist that you have to sit in the left unless you have a FI rating.
I haven't flown in the LHS for 10 years in a SEP. I can't remember a time when I actually flew from A to B without the person in the LHS flying most of it either. So out of 1200 hours SEP 200 were training and the last 1000 hours I maybe touched the controls for 50 hours, and 20 of that I was solo doing positioning flights for maint.
