New Uk Operator And King Air
Hope somebody can help me out here.My work partner and i are branching out on our own,and have reached the descision to go it alone in the private air charter sector. We have already virtually sealed a large contract with a major multi corporation based both here in the UK, and middle europe. We are carrying both pax and logistics, and we will be based out of southern England.Naturally we are very suprised at the speed that this contract has reached fruition,in fact it has come all to quick, neverless we are where we are.
What we are looking for is a King Air,and a very experienced pilot on this type.We are not fussed as to the registration,i.e, G plate,N plate or VP plate. We may have to go down the sub charter route initially if we can`t get the right aircraft, but we are preferably looking to lease or buy.
What we need is some real good stats about the king Air,i.e rough running costs, pilot feedback on the aircraft as a VIP plane, pilot salary expectations, crew hours,in fact any info about the buiseness as a whole.
We are from aviation backgrounds, but this a whole new ball game.Hopefully we can employ somebody on this forum with the relevant experience.

KingAir as VIP :
B90 : Clubseating a must, max. 5 pax for reasonable comfort
B200: Clubseating nice, carries 7 pax in good comfort
B1900: Opt for D-model - gives you full height cabin & full size toilet option. Has the better range/payload profile & best hot/high performance of the lot. Lot of cabin configs possible.
What range / payload / destinations are we talking? 1P or 2P operations?
Brgds,

Firstly...HolerPoler many thanks.I wasn`t sure if i was pushing my luck on this one.Secondly all of you that have been e mailing us again many thanks. We promise to get back to all of you soon.We have a few bits and bobs to sort but you are all in our minds as we progress with this.
In answer to the last post we are initialy looking at single command but that will depend on the insistance perhaps of our customer. We are aiming to expand later on, so will need more pilots anyway. The aim is to test the water with biz jets depending on how this goes.Again many thanks, and any new developments we will keep this site informed.

Having flown the 1900C, I must say the D is a much better A/C with all the advantages cited above but it seems that the CAA isn't much keen on them at all so it probably be a very hard work to get them populating the UK sky (or under G reg).
A real shame.
I must say I have been contacted by another company in the UK, looking at operating a similar type, but then again (CAA) feet are dragging which make the 200 a safer (cheaper) bet.
Good Luck though

Try westair at Blackpool airport, had a succession of 90's, 200's on both the G & N registers. Both Owner & cheif pilot have 200 type ratings and loads of UK/Europe operational experience.
Also there was a relatively low time 200 that went south from Blackpool within the last 4 weeks or so it was G-OWAX anybody seen it?
No obvious advertising allowed folks - point of contact info, established through email contact, leading to possible business is as far as you're going to get without paying for some bandwidth.

loud & clear sorry.

G-OWAX has been sitting down at Oxford for the past few weeks, not sure what it is doing but could find out. Are you looking to set up an AOC or do you already have one? If you are looking at bringing a foreign reg King Air on to the G reg take a good look at the pressure cycles, the CAA are very strict with these.

I thought that G-OWAX was operated by Pool at Blackpool? I seem to remember a big splash across the front page of EBAN a few months ago? If it's gone to Sterling already it'd be a surprise...
Gama are the UK's largest King Air Operator aren't they...?
Well, everyone else has had a shot at advertising...

Sterling are indeed operating G-OMNH, G-OWAX, and G-ROWN (the latter 2 are leased). I hear that Pool Aviation are getting a replacement King Air.
As to the main thread: I suspect the sub-contract option is the only feasible way to go and remain legal. Getting an AOC is neither cheap nor quick. Non 'G' reg aircraft can only be operated as private aircraft if based in this country (as far as I understand it).

Props are for boats!

I would start with a B200. then after awhile upgrade to the B350.
B90s are a bit small and, will restrict your operation. Also look at getting a machine that has the option of high density seating, but this ofcourse depends on you market. I ll send you a resume if you need someone to drive it. But it wouyld have to be Nreg for me as I dont have the $25000USD TO CONVERT MY LICENCE TO U.K.

Pool Aviation lost G-OWAX to Sterling Helicopters and I believe it is also something to do with Oxaero. Possibly doing their regualar Amsterdam shuttle?
Pool now operate G-REBK, ex Platinum then moved to LEA. Rumours that Pool will possibly be buying G-REBK.

rocketboots:
if you go for a B200, buy one that is converted using RAISBECK goodies (Props, Leading edges, aft body strakes air intakes and if High-floatation gear equipped the fully enclosing gear doors)
it actually makes your b200 a b250.. quicker, less fuel burning, better performing...
if you have more detailed questions on the ops of a B200, send me an email...
My Background:
3700 Hrs Kingair B200 TRE&TRI for KA90-200,DM&OM&TM of a commercial ops in schermoney
