I never had it happen to me. I guess I will be jinxing it now..
Mutt why don't you guys tech in STN, fuel is cheaper, probably less hassle for you lot too.
It is a heck of a lot quieter than the NJ hub at LTN and you lot buy enough fuel to get a heck of a deal over there, I am not affiliated with them, but have always had a great experience at Inflight.

Fuel stop on way to IAD, the 1 passenger had to get cleared by immigration in main terminal. Next flight, round trip, delayed as all crew had to go to the main terminal and line up at immigration. Next trip, crew change, inbound crew did t go near immigration. So it is "hit and miss".

At my base, customs are one side of the airport and there is an fbo on the other, separate sides of the runway. Immigration will never come over to the fbo, instead insisting that pax are driven over to them. This takes the passengers landside as there is no connecting road within the airport boundary, completely defying the point of a customs check!
Fortunately they don't often insist on an inspection.
