What is a GV 'really' worth?
Can anyone say what GV is really worth these days? Why? Well trying to do the numbers for the "Boss" to check what he has from the Gulfstream salesman, the prices are all over the map.
Gulfstream say the prices for a GV, which is actually out of production (replaced now by the GVSP) are US$42m or so yet when pushed this dropped in two minutes to US$36m for one of the 'white tail' pre-speced jobs gracing Savanagh. Then the Sultan of Brunei's is for sale at US$32.5m with less than 500hrs and Ford are selling their GV with 250hrs for US$32m, via some broker called Peerless out of Canada.
The "Boss" then heard from one GV owner he paid US$40.25 mid 2001 and is really ....ed off as the value is now low 30's. Hellava depreciation in less than 12 months.
Then cap this the lease rate for a GV is down to US$225,000/month including free parts for 5 years.....direct from Gulfstream.
Sense someone in GA is in panic mod sending out conflicting offers.

Hi there,
Tell your boss he is in the driving seat because they cant give them away at present, go for a new white tail, offer $33.5 with a guaranteed buyback of $31 for a GV-SP.
And do the same for a global / global 5000. Bombardier will do anything to steal orders.
Loads of a/c out there at present, but i prefer the Global as it did Lon - KL faster / cheaper.
cheers

Or encourage him to look at the numbers on a Falcon 900EX!
At about 22mill and little more than half the weight and half the fuel to do all the same stuff..........and a bigger, more comfy cabin!
Chuck.

Thanks Guys..... seems to prove that the prices are soft at best!
We look long and hard at the 900EX but need more range than the 900EX. Just does not miss out the ME area which we need at times, plus the cabin is no better than the GIV (which we have) quite apart from the small galley being wholly inadequate for long range trips. Having said that US$22m for a 900EX that sounds pre-owned or closer to the 2000EX in price. A 900EX was running in the low 30's.
I now see that the ex-Avolar/UA GIV's and GV's are being offered around at 'aggressive' prices.
Have been wondering how the drop in GV prices is hitting GIVSP prices as the SP was over $33m at one stage. They must be in the high 20's by now....... scary.

Avolar cabs are basic at best, however, less than $30 will by a year old G-V, Gulfstream do not want people to know that just yet until they start offloading the pile they have.
Trouble is though, you will not get anything near your asking price if you have a G-IV to trade, expect $ 13+ but not much more if you have to upgrade.
Trade it for a superyacht, that way you get a bit more and dont rock the used a/c values too much.
I'd still have the global though.
Climbing to flight level 510 - bliss!!
eye , me julie calling - later

After a week of hard grafting we were offered a new, fresh out of the box GV for US$37m all in, a trade of US$2m over FMV on our GIV plus free parts for five years, hours capped at 600hr/yr - need to get rid of that. More likely to go for the Ford machine as its out there at US$32.5m. On the way we found that the GIV is now US$27m!. How the world has changed.... six months ago they were US$43m and US$33m respectively.

Gulfstream 'dumping'?
The available deals out of Gulfstream are getting leaner. Without any real effort the deal now on the table is a 'stock' GV now at US$35m with 100% buy back against a new GVSP at US$40.5m including EVS. The interim GV & GIVSP will be with a parts credit of US$500,000. Anyone who paid US$40plus for his GV must be pi***d! So much for their claims about residual values!
What is interesting about this is that the GV does not seem to be any better than the GeX, if anything its inferior in a number of ways and all they are doing is 'dumping'.
