Trying to find sheep in a paddock from about 150ft agl in a 172. I am wondering if there are any techniques used for aerial spotting? cheers.

Land in the paddock!!
The animal will most likely run in front of you,to scare the sheep out of you.
Failing this, climb out and have a little walk around while you look for it, like the rest of the farmers do.
