Sion too - LSGS.

So let's start a cumulative list for online self-certification:

LFMD - Cannes
LSZS - Samedan
LSZA - Lugano (upper minimums)
LSGS - Sion (upper minimums)

And airfields that require inflight checkride :

EGLC - London City
LFTZ - La Môle
LSZA - Lugano (lower minimums)
LSGS - Sion (lower minimums)

Validation is not needed but Gibraltar LXGB is quite a place to look after when windy, look at the Jepp wind chart.

Thanks for the input gents, but there must be more airfields that require either an online test or other Cat C airfields that need a check ride before a visit so lets keep the thread going and yes I agree with HS125 this would be a useful sticky.

Chambery
Innsbruck
Neither require on-line validation by pilots but it is true that both require that the operator follows specific procedures. In the case of Chambery, it is to provide specific instruction to the pilots, in the case of Innsbruck it is to seek approval from the authority (which requires providing specific instruction to the pilots for approval).

During a sim training a couple of years ago we had to do a couple of procedures to familiarize with Innsbruck, but to be honest I don't know if it was on request by the Austrian or our CAA...

Well you just have to read the approach cards! It is at the request of the competent authority, ie the Austrian authority.

So here is an improved list:

Require online pilot self-certification:
LFMD - Cannes
LSZS - Samedan
LSZA - Lugano (upper minimums)
LSGS - Sion (upper minimums)

Require inflight checkride:
EGLC - London City (Sim approval possible)
LFTZ - La Môle
LSZA - Lugano (lower minimums)
LSGS - Sion (lower minimums)

Require Operator approval:
LOWI - Innsbruck
LFLB - Chambéry (more than ten seats, inc pilots)

Keep 'em coming!

Food for thoughts...

Here is a list of Jeppesen Qualification and Familiarization charts.
Unfortunately it doesn't split those which require a qualification from the others.
http://jeppesen.com/documents/aviati...s/invtyitm.pdf

Read until the end: "page 3 of 2"

Lightbulb LFKC

Hi all,

LFKC requires an operator approval (based on perf calculations).
For ACFT heavier than 5,7 T and carrying more than 10 pax seats, recognition of the field by the CDR is required (ACFT or SIM).

Be careful with La Mole.

A check ride is only required if the pilot is not qualified in mountain flying, or aircraft weighs greater than 5,700kgs (in which case a full safety case is required) otherwise you can go in PVT or P/T.

I used to visit there regularly in a C25A. Checkrides available I am a CRI(A) and CRMI(Line). Feel free to PM.

Also please note according to the French AIP, that Chambery is limited by 10 passenger seats NOT including crew for GA ops. The french translation is a little ambiguous at it states "crew seats excepted".

Italian Operator Approval only for Instrument Approach to LIPB-Bolzano. Cat C VFR for AOC otherwise I believe.

I would add a little remark if I may regarding La Mole and mountain flying. Last time we checked, the french CAA did not recognize said mountain flying rating as an appropriate rating for La Mole unless it was on a french licence

Salzburg needs special simulator training to get the operator approval for both special performance approaches (Special performance CAT I and Special Performance CAT II/III RWY 16). Dunno if the same is needed for RWY 16 departures, we had to do OEI simulator training for that as well, but that might be an in-house requirement.
