Hi All,

Any of you guys know if a G450 is able to fly at any speed setting from LA to London in normal conditions?

Thanks.

Gulfstream itself gives the range at Long Range Cruise of 4350 nm.

"Range with 8 passengers, 3 crew, NBAA IFR reserves. Actual range will be affected by ATC routing, operating speed, weather, outfitting options and other factors."

The rest is up to you.

Great circle distance from LAX to LHR is 4748 nm according to our pilots. So the answer is probably no, unless you have a dandy tailwind. We operate a G550, and the trip wouldn't even require full fuel.

G550 rules OK

I love it when I am asked what the max fuel is for the 550, and reply.....it does not matter...... if you need to ask you dont want to know.

For the 450 in general I would use 4200 mn. and feel more comfortable.

Now the 650 is a different matter........ I can not wait to play with one of those big boys toys... we have an early delivery position, and still hope the main man does not slip backwards...

The only real problem with the Gulfstream G450 is convincing the boss to buy one!

Less than two weeks after it entered service, a G550 flew nonstop from Seoul, South Korea, to Orlando, Fla., covering the 7,301 nautical mile(13,521 km) distance in 14.5 hours and setting a city pair record. In fact, it would go on to establish 40 city-pair records in its first five years of service.

This is a brawny aircraft with an international reach. Powered by enhanced Rolls-Royce BR710 turbofan engines, the G550 has a range of 6,750 nm(12,501 km) at Mach 0.80 and a high-speed cruise capability of Mach 0.87. With its long legs, the G550 easily links Washington, D.C., with Dubai, London with Singapore and Tokyo with Paris.
I seriously hope that they improved to comfort of the cockpit seats over the G4...... or the Flight Attendant will have to give hourly massages to the crew

Hey Mutt,
It's good news, bad news here. You can recline the pilot seats and push the pedals forward and have all the room in the world. The seats are more comfortable than most, but they aren't what I'd call great on anything longer than 7 or 8 hours.

My real bitch is with the crew rest area It's a puzzle to me why the designers installed a "regular" seat there. With the aim being a place for crew to rest, I'd figure they would design it as a bed that could double as a seat.

Long legs....

The G550 might link Washington with Dubai, but not always Dubai with Washington.
The PR man forgot to mention the tail wind advantage TO Dubai. Fuel load, and passenger loads.

7300 nm is a record attempt range, not daily expected range....

Try 6200 nm, NBAA much more predicatable.

The seats in the G450 are much better, as you say than the G4, with more legroom, and importantly elbow room.
The coffee cup holder is reachable, not like the G4.

The crew rest are in the G550 can be a joke. Its only function in life is an extra larder for the catering, better than the toilet.

I have never managed to sleep in a G5 or G550 crew rest area. Noisy from the Galley. Crew talk, flight deck noises, inc normal level talk. Passenger entertainment systems, and doors closing.
I almost forgot, galley aromas....some good some bad.

The G650 crew rest area promises to be usable. Unless the Big Cheese sees it as (his) office space......YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED....
