Tips and tricks for the VKO.

Hi,

I presume, almost all of us, who have been in VKO have experienced some weird ATC, strange rules and other weird happenings.

Operating more than 2.5 years way too often to and from VKO, I have found some useful tips to ease the ongoing pressure for operating there.. If you also have some personal recommendations, please share it here.

Flying there.
- the firs point when you get handover from Moscow control to Moscow approach is almost always at altitude 10100m or 9100m. If flying via FK, then I plan decent 6 minutes prior FK and got almost as possible continous decent profile as possible.

- Never plan rod more than 2500 - 3000fpm, it will help avoid immediate leveloffs

- Be prepared, if you are on vectors, then they tend to vector you south side of the VKO and then give you (when you least expect) direct to SW and following SW arrival.
- Local ATC expects that if the say decent 9100m standart, be level at FK, you actually reach 9.1 km 2 minutes prior (some old rule from russian atc, I was told)

On ground.

If they dont have permission from immigration services/no info about your flight plan/ stand by, then actually you got no help from yelling, calling different agents and asking again and again the startup.
Seems now, that they will not let you depart between 11-12 lcl, because then all the UTairs leave.. Before 11 and after 12 its relatively quiet.

When airport is closed due to tech reasons, then it is so. Probably the tech reason is some president or prime minister leaving or arriving.. Easier to wait and ask again after 30 minutes.

Departure-
We plan always not more than 210kts and 2500fpm until first altitude after 10000ft.
Continuously complainig reaching/request higher, will usually not help you.

If you have some tips aswell, please share them here..
