Need Help!!

Hi Everyone,

Well here s the situation, I ve been offered to fly a citation cj3 as a FO by a private owner in London. He did not buy it yet

I convinced him to make it registered as N cause I have my FAA CPL IR, he accepted under conditions that there will be no tricks and the price will be the same to operate (not any big tax cause it is a foreign aircraft)

So, I tried to look in the forum already for hours, but I did not find anything close to my situation. Lots of questions came earlier this day.

How to get the paperwork done? Is it a problem to never fly to the US even if we have a N aircraft? How can I do the maintenance? Is it more expensive for this private owner to have a Nregistered aircraft? If he buy the aircraft, can the dealer do the paperwork?
Do you know any more tricks to operate an American jet in Europe!?

I know I m not the only one and I know it might be possible for me to fly it but I need to be sure of my info, that s where all you guys help me

I tried to call FAA today but the guy was not there!

If anyone is in the same situation, flying a `Nregistered aircraft in Uk (Europe) or Know someone who do that, please tell me.

Thanks and fly safe

I'm by no means an authority on this subject, but you might want to look at the 'M' Register. In very basic terms, you might just get the best of both worlds.

....appreciate that you want him to put it on the 'N' reg. over here (UK) in order that you can fly it.....now, not suggesting for a moment that this would be the avenue to follow (for you), but given you've asked the question with regard to costs for your a/c owner - he personally might well be better off getting the aircraft put on the 'G' register and placing the aircraft with a company to manage and build revenue from said a/c in charter etc. ??

As i say, it's all down to personal preference and what you and the owner require from the aircraft.....can happily recommend a management company if required ? (i know, how bloody generous of me.....sorry).

Validations

Manx (Isle of Man), Aruba, Cayman Islands and Bermuda all validate certificated U.S. Airman.

I would research how much time the "foreign registered" aircraft will spend in the UK as this may be an issue.

Good luck!

I believe that if it is operating within Europe privately it will be subject to Mineral Tax which can be around 50%, so potentially a costly option to your owner.

If operating under an AOC as Commercial Air Transport then you do not pay that tax. Quite a difference. I am told that the Manx Register produce some sort of tax relief certificate though?

The IOM Cert of Commercial Use is increasingly not accepted these days, even for guys who are actually using it for business especially France / Italy.
