Isle of Man Registered Aircraft

Hello,
Can anyone who knows tell me if I would be able to fly an aircraft that is registered in the Isle of Man with a US FAA Atpl? If so, would I need to get a validation like they do in Bermuda or Aruba?

I am asking because I am in the process of landing a job flying a G-V that is Registered there. "M" Registered

Thanks,

Sami

Yes and Yes

No problem, they recognise FAA ATP licences, and will issue you with a validation, similar to those mentioned.

Congratulations, on the G5 job.

If this is your first G5 job, welcome to the club.

If your paperwork is in order it can take as little as 3 hours, ensure you have the right docs for your theatre so you'll be needing ERVSM certificates.

Also get a swine flu jab!

Congrats mate

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the great replies!!! I appreciate them!! And thanks OM15 for the on-line application link, that is perfect!!

I flew a GV many years ago, but the one I flew was sold a month after they got it. They downgraded to a G-IV. So after i got my GV type, I was back in school for my G-IV type. I am excited to get back into the GV, as well as this position since it will be a full time position versus a short term contract which is what i have been doing since my old company shut its flight department down.

Thanks again guys, its very good news for me!!!!

OIM validation

Hey guys

Thanks for all the valuable infos about OIM

I would need to get some sponsors to get validated on my different types

Being rated and current on Falcon 900B, Challenger 604 and 605 and Global Express, getting the m validation would allow me to help as contract pilot for the m aircrafts

Anyone could give me operators infos regarding these types

Thanks a lot a happy landings to all

Hi guys,

same predicament here. FAA ATP with Hawker HS-125 type, 4000+ TT, residing in Europe. Currently on the ground due to lack of work.

wrto Isle of Man: I've noticed that there are quite a few Hawkers (800XP / 900XP) with IOM registration. Most of them seem to operate in and out of the UK. Interestingly enough: quite a few VP-, D-, and G- registrations appear to have been transferred to the M- register recently. Does anybody have an explanation for this?

Anybody out there with some hands-on inside information? Strangely enough I've never come across any employment ads for M- registered aircraft. The only feasible explanation for this is that there must be an elite circle of insiders who pass on jobs by word of mouth/recommendation.

Any useful info or help is greatly appreciated. I'd like to join the club!

localizer28,

No magic circle I'm glad to say. I guess any advert would ask for FAA or JAR ATP/ATPL as either will do. If you have either and get the job then you need to be validated on that particular aircraft. That process is very simple and takes very little time. To fly another aircraft repeat the process.

As to why people are changing, I guess amongst other reasons - Simplicity, cost, efficiency of the IOM processes and time zone convenience would come very high on owners lists.

Hope that helps a little.
