Whats in an AOC ?

Hi everyone,

Perhaps a strange request, but has anyone got access to an AOC that I could use as a guide to helping produce a new AOC for a potential UK operator ?

Their plan (actually, more of an idea that a plan at this stage), is to initially offer pleasure flights, perhaps some photographic work and maybe banner towing with SEP aircraft.... Later they would like to expand into passenger (air taxi), ambulance flights and light freight using something like a Chieftain or KingAir.

If anyone has an example of the required documents (AOC, Ops manuals, etc) that I could use as a guide / example I would be very grateful.....

Many thanks...

Pretty sure someone will sell you the documents you need but, give them away? Not quite sure why an operator would do that for someone they don't know who might turn out to be a potential competitor. Think you may struggle here.

Then again I may have some documents lying around from a previous employer. Let's haggle

I suspect that you will get plenty of offers of help from people wishing to have a piece of your dream, or maybe not quite so helpful comments as well.

It would be good to get some imartial advice and there are some good people who view this tread, like Fred above.

If you would like to talk it over with with someone who has no interest in what you are doing but is experienced and, I hope, impartial then drop me a PM and I could direct you towards some sensible help.

Regards

MM

perhaps some clarification....

Hi again,

Thanks to MM and Flintstone.... I suspect some haggleing may be needed soon !

To try to clarify what I'm up to and what I'm looking for....

I am not personally thinking of starting my own business - I'm quite happy (as in fat, dumb and....) in my present job.

The question arose as a friend that currently runs a Flying School mentioned that they are considering (when things get better !) expending their operation to include some aerial work and possibly some taxi / light cargo work. While we were chatting about this (my part being something like "are you mad - there's no work out there at the moment") he mentioned that it was a possible plan for the future, when things improve..... and that he wanted some help starting an outline for his future AOC / Ops documents.

As I know little about these sorts of things and the documents at my work are very different to those he proposes (we dont do 'simple aerial work or taxi / cargo') I was just hoping for someone to point me in the right direction.

Beacuse nothing is likely to happen until the economy improves, if it comes to anything at all, spending money on an AOC and the associated docs isn't a practical solution - we only want to see what we would need to do if and when the plans come to anything...

I hope thats explains where I'm coming from....

Thanks,

ItA

I might be able to send you a list of paragraph headings. I have just started working on an ops manual for a private operator, but it is based on an AOC ops manual. Send me a PM.

If considering a CAA AOC, the CAA website may be of help....

There is for example a 12 page EU-OPS AOC Checklist which lists the topics required in the AOC.

AOC

Unless you are going for a simple A to A AOC for pleasure flying then the main requirement for an AOC (A to B) is lots of cash I am afraid.
