Air Ambulance
Just heard that Airmed at oxford are recruiting for a Learjet captain!
Anybody have any ambulance flying? Would like to ask what to expect with this kind of work.

Took a while, but a much better choice than the Eclipse or Grob they'd been looking at previously.
I thought they'd got the crewing sorted, but if they are looking for a captain to join them and anyone reading this is thinking about it.....go for it, they are a great company to work for.
I had a great time when I was working there, and have many fond memories of it

hi
Well I fly Ambulance in a Lear 60 for a big operator .
Basically its ADD-Hoc Cargo flying with easy "get bad" cargo.
So that means ,unusual flight times Duty times, expect to fly Worldwide with a Lear ,like to bankok or Melbourne.
Definately great Experience ,but you need to learn coping with real bad medic Situations ,like Inflight Death or higly infectious Illnesses.
You learn a lot about to preciate the health of yourself and you definately enjoy the Pint after work .

Did AA in a Lear 35 for many many years. Some of the most interesting flying I have ever done. No deaths, and no major in flight probs, in fact they will only move the patient if they are fit to fly and are stable, so no real dramas. LONG hours somedays but not much sitting about down route. Lear 35 is the best machine I have ever flown and most rewarding . I have flown bigger and more advanced but the Lear was the dogs nuts. Real hands on plane with little automation and basic autopilot, but much, much fun.
