As someone involved in the aircraft sales industry I must admit that whilst we are seeing aircraft hit the market everyday globally the UK is no different than the rest of the world.

I'm sure we all agree that for some owners of both private jets and turboprops the ownership of such aircraft are for some simply a mere status item for the rich but for others its a means to an end and is a very valuable business tool.

The report obviously failed to highlight this and also didnt even state that whilst aircraft are hitting the market people and companies are STILL buying. Buyers market and those wishing to buy are seeing some great deals.

Some of our buyers are actually finding the current economic downturn a advantage is purchasing due to the heavy discounts that we are seeing

I never knew I was in the fashion business! I will be looking at all those destinations in North Africa and Central Asia in a new light.

For every seller, there will be a buyer waiting once the price gets to the right level. Not sure bizjets go out of fashion...if they halved in value, we'd just see a load of new entrants. Same as houses: in 2007 everyone moaned about their inaffordability; now they don't!

Wait till the financing is available and it will all sort itself out at 'the market level'.

As for JR, they seem to be desperate for PR this month: boasting their 1,000th pilot CV received, ...their enquiries up 65% (one wonders from what base, given they've only been around 6 mths), ...and now their product being unfashionable. Doesn't matter whether you're selling shares or cards, not sure you should be telling your audience that the product is no longer cooool....

Buy when there's blood on the streets (hmmm sounds like I've said that before )

I'm sure those on sale now will find buyers sooner or later. There will certainly be people who won't think twice buying a 40 million jet for 25...

Well its certainly a strange time out there. It appears from recent experience that those who show there aircraft to be the cheapest around gets calls and even a sale but those who dont just stick.

We just got a CJ2 bought for close to the $3.3 million mark. go back a few months and that would so have never happened.

Sign of the times !!!

The jet my bosses bought 1.5 years ago was aroung 16m. Now, 340hrs later, they get offers at 11m. They say, they wonīt sell for that. I bet they will, when the pressure is high enough. I asked them why there is no plan B for uncertain times like NOW. Didnīt get an answer. Well, actually I got one: no one could have known what happens now.
I just wonder why these guys are paid what they are paid when they donīt know more than I do. "My" guys have invested heavily in the british and american building industry in 2007, because of the strong markets. I could not possibly have made a worse decision.

Where is that vomit smiley when you really need it?

Well, allow me to disagree: 2 yrs ago, while I was making up my mind on moving back to UK into the job I am right now, one of my sister's friends (a junior estate agent in continental EU) told her the house market could not run at that pace for much longer.

He has been proved right...

I asked them why there is no plan B for uncertain times like NOW. Didnīt get an answer.
Same for me: wish I had a degree and another option. Together with some ansewers perhaps.

Mmmmm, dont think Farnborough is 30% down as the figures from the EBAA come directly from Eurocontrol so should be accurate.....

I think that the days of individuals/companies owning their own biz jets is on the decline. However, companies such as Net Jets et al are picking up work from those companies who are 'downsizing' their personal biz jet requirement and using fractional ownership as the way forward in these harsh economic times.
