Corporate benefits; Airmiles and hotel points etc.
When I first joined the GA sector, one of my captains was keen to point out to me that I should join the Frequent Flyer programmes and Hotel loyalty schemes that abound.
Having done so I have found on numerous occassions that hotels at some locations refuse to give the points to crew as we are not the ones paying the bill! Other hotels within the same chain but at a different location will happily do so without batting an eyelid.
At one specific hotel we use regularly it depends which check in clerk we use as to weather we get the points or not. Bizzare.
This problem does not arise with the airlines we use to position only the hotels thereafter.
Any thoughts or helpful tips? I'm saving the points for a holiday etc for the children.

No really relevant to your post but when I collected points in the course of duty, I was warned that they might be considered as a "benefit in kind" for tax purposes. Don't know if that's true or not.
I too found that points were sometimes not forthcoming if I didn't actually pay the bill from my own pocket On the other hand, one hotel we frequented gave us hundreds and hundreds.

The general excuse is you don't get the airmiles or bonus points because normally the agent books for you. As a result you are there on a discounted rate. No points on discounted rates. Doesn't seem to matter that ''you're'' spending a small fortune there, excluding any catering when you go.
Then again others are more than happy to give you the points. Go figure.
But the airmiles are clocking up
