Falcon 900 off runway . . Brindisi.
Friday arriving from Milan, Falcon 900 landing in heavy rain and cross winds at Aeroporto Intl del Salento, Brindisi, Italy. Press report the main runway was closed due to work, nose gear collapse, 3 of 6 on board injured.

Brand new F900EX EASy, sn 204, I-FLYI, Eurofly Services.
Flew around 100 hrs total.
3 crew and 3 pax, flight LGAV-LIRA, smell of burned equipment hence emergency descent and landing.

Dassault Communiqué Normal No. 081202 arrived yesterday via fax --
Apparently this was not much more than bad-handling of a x-wind landing, or a poor decision to land under the prevailing conditions.
No mention in the Communiqué of any fire or other emergency. Where did that rumour come from?
The construction ditch certainly exacerbated the damage following the excursion.

On Friday, November 28, 2008, A Falcon 900EX EASy aircraft departed the runway after landing at Brindisi Airport (LIBR), Italy.
Damage to the RH wing, nose and lower fuselage was observed as the result of the runway departure.
An investigation is in progress with the local Authorities. At this time, there are no recommended changes to your aircraft operational procedures.
We will keep you advised of any significant development which arises concerning this event as permitted by the Authorities which are investigating the matter.

Accident occured at around 1900 (I guess LT, see below official link).

The 900 can be a handfull if not operated properly in strong gusty conditions
F900 demo'd x-wind is 30 knots.

The weather at BDS last Friday was really bad. I work on the base and the wind was mainly coming from the S/SW and very strong. I would estimate over 30 knot gusts.
Also round about the time of the crash it was starting to change direction very quicly from S to N and back again.
I have some photos of the plane, and from the looks of where it ended up it has been hit by a gust on landing which spun it 180 degrees and it ended up on the grass next to the runway.

Hi all,
I personally know both pilots and they really have high experience on Falcons and Falcons 900, so my idea is really a bad and challenging situation which was not predictable. However, predictable was a tough landing since x-wind component was up to the limit in the last WX, gusty and variable.
Just one note: Another Falcon 900 of the Italian Air Force was forced to land on 18th November in Brindisi coming from Athens, so they are two, not the same airplane.

Two Different Falcons
Dear Zeffy,
read back again my post pls, we're talking aboutn TWO DIFFERENT FALCON 900 ! the first did because it was an emergencym the second 28th november didn't since it was a "normal approach" with unhappy end.
So no emergency for the second airplane.
moreover, the first didn't crash nor caused any kind of throuble to anyone. the second was with 6 pax and 3 of them injured, airplane nose landing gear broken and various damages.
I wish it does help ....

Yes, your post referred to two separate aircraft and separate events -- the first an emergency, the second a scheduled landing with the unfortunate result.
I was also trying to clarify whether the information provided by the second poster in the thread has been confirmed or has been shown to be incorrect:
Dassault has issued a second Communiqué regarding the accident and it makes no mention whatsoever of an emergency.
