MD80 or MD82 Australia
Anyone interested in flying in Australia? Take a close look at the Australian dollar vs the US dollar and think about what your effective takehome pay will be. There are many other items to consider as well.

I am not a party posting any jobs in Oz. Just want anyone considering accepting positions there to know that there are important factors to consider for non Ozzie pilots. Very low Australia to US dollar conversion, high cost of living, high taxes, etc
The company involved seem to be targeting furloughed US pilots in an effort to avoid paying to type-rate/train Australian pilots (of whom there are many available).
Would seem to be stretching the definition required under the 457 visa.

Not rated on the aircraft, but I do follow the currency, I believe the OZy dollar hit almost 90c US back three months ago, which would have probably been sweet. It is the typical money exchange routine, where your working goes the wrong direction, or so it seems.
Details on the job would be interesting, know a few MD pilots who would like to put a few more years in.
