NE Scotland to Southern Europe in Hawker 800

I have been asked to put together some rough figures for an aircraft like a Hawker 800 (or about that size and class of biz jet) for regular trips from NE Scotland down into Southern Europe and occasionally into Africa with upto 8 pax. My experience ends with King Air's so any help here appreciated! I'm on the Hawker website but cannot seem to get it to load properly at the moment.

Just looking for approximate costs for purchase new or used aircraft, fuel burn, maintenance etc etc

Also does a Hawker 800 sound like the appropriate machine for this type of mission and if not what others might be?

Nice machine to operate. Tough and reliable (if well maintained)

Typical cruise 350 or 360 though the 800B is cleared to 430 (highest I've been in it is 400)

Fuel burn work on 2000lb for the first hour and 1600lbs per hour after that High Speed Cruise. 10,000lbs in the tanks and TAS 440ish so you can do the math but Scotland to Southern Europe is no problem.

Price varies but US$4-5 million is a rough ball park for the 800B. 800XP will be more.

Maintainence can be a bit of a problem as the schedule on the older aircraft is fairly complex. Not sure about costs but seem to remember DOC of about £1,500ish but check that.

Good luck,

Chips

Chippies figures are right on but if you think you are doing 8pax and bags then think again.

We were always baggage limited in the Hawker. if you plan on doing 8 pax + bags, shopping, southern europe suggest golf bags....... then i would suggest a Soverign.

Does basically the same number wise but has double the baggage space..

Thats great, all suggestions welcome so that I can prepare a fact sheet for these people. It's a potential first aircraft for a pretty big company, they know nothing about operating aircraft. I will probably suggest it goes on the M reg.

IHD, Too true. Baggage space has always been the Hawker's Achilles Heel. Weight shouldn't be a problem with ZFW 18,000lbs and an APS of 15,600ish but fitting 8 sets of clubs is a dream. However, certain configs can get quite a bit of baggage in the cabin.

By all acounts the Sovereign is a great aircraft but for what price and when are the delivery slots. Challanger 300 ($20-24M), same problem.

My commission cheque can be made payable to "The Royal Oak - Bar Tab #4...."

You will all be rewared adequetly in due course!

I guess another problem might be the runway that they plan on using as a home base, just over 1820m (wont take a rocket scientest to figure which one!)

Can't remember the figures but I've used Cannes and Dundee with AOC factoring so a private M Reg. shoud be OK.
