split duty
Concerning the application of the EU-OPS FTL in the General Aviation the italian Civil Authority had published a supplementary regulation that extend the maximum FDP up to 18 hours.
Anyone of you outside Italy have similar regulation applied?

Ftl/split Duty
The UK FTL scheme would allow a 18 hour Flight duty Period with the use of split duty: Example
2 sector day starting at say 8 am allows a normal FDP of 13 1/4 hours. If a split duty of 10 hours were taken between sectors the extra duty allowed is 10 minus 30 minutes /2 = + 4 hours 45 minutes = FDP of 18.00
The crew rest after would have to be scheduled as the resulting crew duty day which would be 18 hours plus post flight duties. Normal captain's dicscretion to exceed the 18 hours also applies. Any split duty over 6 hours off has to be taken at a "place of rest". I think the system is fair and workable as GA/Air Taxi often has a pattern of out in the am and back late pm but with not enough time to go off duty inbetween. As long as the company is straight and does not abuse the system by asking their crews to hang about the airport all day it is fine
