Russian visa's

Hi all,
anyone out there got any experience with bizjet flights to Russia. Got a trip coming up to UUWW and understand we can get visa's on arrival, is this correct? We are Brit, Irish and American.

Hi!
No Problem to get it on arrival. After the new terminal is now up and running, I think it will be even quicker.
However, best is to inform the handling agent a day before (normally VIPPORT) and submit scanned copies of your passports. In that case Visa should be already issued and ready upon arrival.
Have fun in Moscow

Hi NuName,
I can HIGHLY recommend that you take C500's advice and submit scanned copies of your passport to your handling agent before you depart otherwise, you WILL be waiting for 4 hours (you can't leave the aircraft) while they issue the visa. Also, try not to change aircraft or departure airport as that too can cause problems.
Finally, watch out for the 2.5 degree glide path on final. EGPWS doesn't like it a great deal so you can get "whoop whoop, pull up" if not configured early.
Hope this helps,
CC

Quirks

You probably already know ( not teaching you to suck eggs.... ) also watch out for the ft/mt conversions - nicely done on the Jepps but also beware QFE is used and that figures given are heights, they also have ( had? ) a tendancy to give you a 90 degree ILS intercept. ( However, compared to when I first went there its a real piece of cake and you should have a great time, nice and warm this time of year!)

refused R F airways access last night

Rostov, refused our entry last night, as they had no "flight plan", we had not departed on this sector until we actually had received a Russian Clearance: the FAS number, and was a quasi govermental flight.

After 20 mins we eventually gave up trying to point out that the diplomatic incident might be quite loud.

ATC eventually responded " are you refusing to follow my instruction" , this reminded me that we do not carry ejector seats.

We had been in Russian Airspace for almost 45 mins before they demanded our 180.

We have no sat phone so were unable to get outside assistance from the abnormal channels.

Never mind, the night life in Tblisi, in summer is stunning.

Perhaps we will be forced to stay one more night.?
