Question Beech 90 or Cessna F406

Hey guys,

I have a question about preferred airplane to use fore a small flight operation, maybe some scheduled runs, but mostly charter runs. 5-9 passengers 50- 700 NM
What type of airplane would you prefer and why?
Beech 90 King air or Cessna F406 Twin Caravan

Thanks in advance.

I have flown both, and they compare on most points, yet the 406 has no pressurization, and (I believe) is more noisy.

If the range is OK, I would prefer the King Air for Pax, and the 406 for cargo OPS.

MW

I guess it could be misunderstood, but I wrote 5-9 passengers since the Cessna carries 9 pax, the BE 90 I am looking into is 8 pax maximum, but then I haven’t looked at the range yet.

Hi Cyber!

The B90C (with the Raisbeck modification for increased TOM) will give you 8 pax and 400 NM including reserves. Go with 5 pax and you are looking at 700 NM.

The F406...oh boy, stretching my memory,...no, I've got to look it up (somewhere in the back of my closet )

Also I would go for BE90 for up to 6 pax in comfort (9 pax in pain and 250 NM range) - if you are looking for an unpressurrised BE90 in cargo version (large aft door + crewdoor) taking 1400 kg. over 200 NM, you are wellcome to drop me a mail. If not, I'd recommend the F406 for cargo.

Best rgds,
Ivan

In a 406 you could take around 9 pax, 700 NM, close alternate, JAR OPS IFR reserves, @ FL100, no wind.

Don't remember what a King Air 90 does in comparison, but it will go above more weather because it is pressurized. It is also less noisy for the passengers.

Ivan, are you trying to sell good old JRO ?
