PPL Licence over 45 hours ?
Hello there,
I was wondering...is there anyone who has taken PPL @ 17 with over say 50 or 60 hours?
If so, how many hours did you do it with?
I am 15, and i have 7 hours of Flying a warrior but i am flying now every second weekend so by the time i am ready for PPL i will have well over 50 hours...
Its ok to take PPL with 50 + hours?..Examiners wont think "jeeez..hes slow" or anything ?

I started flying at 13, started doing my PPL seriously about 2 years later. Went solo on my 16th birthday with about 28 hours on a few different types. Got my PPL last month and am about to do my 100th logged hour tomorrow.
Granted 20 odd hours were due to a Flying Scholarship, and I did have to wait for weather for a few months, thus increasing my hours slightly. Don't be worried about how long it takes you, or how it may affect you in the future, because frankly it doesnt, and wont matter.
Just be sure to enjoy your flying and take your time learning, you will do it in as many hours as it takes you, the national average is 56 hours I think. At the end of the day, the more hours you have the more experienced you are.
The instructors are fully aware of situations such as ours, and in my experience they are very supportive and will think nothing along the lines of "Jeez he's slow", as soon as they fly with you they will realise your particular level of skill, and thus if they havent already, realise your excess hours are due to age and legal reasons.

Actually, if he's from the U.S., I believe the requirement is only 16 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> . .. .:toddles off to check the FAR/AIM now that she's opened her mouth:
And I went solo at 16. In a RAF owned Motor Glider so that doesn't really count!. .. .This thread would be beter in Private Flying.... .. .WWW

May be its different for flying in the MoD, I know that you can only be 16yrs old to drive a Land Rover about in the MoD and not 17 - so maybe flying is different too - anyway well done for getting your PPL early.. .. . <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="rolleyes.gif" />
