Question Netjet

Can anybody tell me how it is to work for Netjet in Europe? What are the minimum requirements for captains and F/O? What about duty time and money? Would appreciate any information about Netjet

Lindberg,

The last I heard the absolute minimum requirement was 1500 hrs.

No-one starts off in the left hand seat. Those with appropriate experience do at least six months in the right hand seat before moving across.

If you would like to know more feel free to drop me a line.

Question

Thanks Flintstone and I wanna know more: Who pays the rating? How many days of vacation? Which licenses (countrys) are accapted in Europe? What are the average payment for F/O and captain? Is heavy jet long range an advantage?
Thanks in advance...

Ok, here's how it was when I joined a year ago. Rumour Control states that the pay structure is up for review though

If you are not type rated the company will put you through training with a subsequent three year bond the value of which varies according to type. If you are asked to change fleets afterward you do not get another bond. If you are already type rated I think you are bonded for a year only. You still go to the sim but only for a refresher.

Vacation starts at 1.17 days per month in the first year but rising in subsequent years. That doesn't sound like much until you consider that the roster if six on, five off so if you were to, say, apply for six days leave then you'd be off sixteen days straight. Book a second tour off and you wouldn't have to work for 27 days but use only 12 days from your annual leave.

As far as I know all licences from JAR countries are acceptable. You also need a FAA ticket but if you don't have one they'll pay for that too.

Pay? Hmmm. Just about everyone is on a different salary I think. This is due to something called 'The Grid' which has your turbo-prop hours up the side and jet hours along the bottom then you look at where they meet, add eye of newt and skin of toad and.....ah, who knows? Suffice to say I don't know that there is a standard salary, you'd have to ask at the interview. I do know that I'm worth much more than I'm getting though

In addition to salary there's 70 Euros per diem. Overnight accomodation is always four star where possible. Travelling at the beginning and end of the tour is always on a duty day, never on your own time.

As for heavy jet experience being an advantage, possibly. I think they are just as interested in your attitude. Will you muck in and sort out any problems or fold your arms, sit back and wait for Ops to sort it out? Remember that the owners are VIPs and while you don't exactly have to brownose it's no good just sitting up front and watching them struggle aboard laden with Armani shopping bags.

All in all, it suits me. Sure, I would like a pay rise but there is an excellent safety culture, good backup and no stress.

Best part-time job I ever had

Hi Fred (Flintstone) ... what would the likelyhood of someone with FAA and Transport Canada ATPs and jet experience up to the mid 50k weight being looked at by your people. I already have a pretty good job but it never hurts to ask.

Cool

Hi there Flintstone, how many hours a month/year do you fly roughly? Is it regular, do you spend time away sitting in a hotel waiting for a call? Or do you know what you're going to be doing when you leave from your home gateway.
Thanks

Question

Thanx for info; interested aswell. Is it correct that you can live anywhere, although within one hour of positioning airport? How is the future looking of Netjets? Do you need jettime or is turboprop sufficient?

Flinstone,

Another few questions for you:

What aircraft type do you fly? Did you have experience on type before you started with EJA? How far afield have you flown on a mission with EJA - e.g., flown to the Middle East?

Cheers

Question

Flintstone,

how can they bond you for one year if you`re already type rated? Off course you go to the sim for refresher(s), but so do every airline pilot in the world. I still have not heared that they are bonded for it.

To Flintstone, I'm also very interested in the life of a NetJet pilot. In addition to the questions of the others, can you summarize the pros and cons of what NetJet offers you as a pilot, what you like and dislike?

Sorry about the delay in replying but I've been away on tour.

Where to start? I'm on the S2 and so don't have to go too far (not exactly long range machinery). To date the longest trips have been to Poland and the Med while covering all points in between.

Experience. I came straight from piston twins. TT 2600 hours.

At the moment I'm not working too hard. It varies from 8 to 20 hours per tour, 2-3 tours per month.

You only know where you'll be going on day one. After that you get briefed in the PM for the following day.

I don't know why type rated people are bonded for a year. I only know that some told me they were. Please don't shoot the messenger!

What do I like best? The variety of flying. I think straightforward airline work would drive me nuts.

What do I dislike? Well, considering that I've given enough information for anyone at Netjets to work out who I am, NOTHING!

(Edited due to sexy fingers)

Any truth to the rumour that they are planning to put BBJ`s in Europe? When I asked this question at EBACE this year the person I spoke to said no, but she was not a major wheel I think. I heard from someone the other day that the answer is yes!
Can you confirm?
cheers

Flintstone,

How long is the expected progression from FO on the SII to captain and then final progression up to the Falcon 2000?

Are most new pilots assigned to the SII or are some also assigned to the Hawker and/or Falcon (dependent upon need)? Would you need Falcon experience to start as a Falcon FO?

Where is the primary basing out of London - which airport - Luton?

Cheers

Hi there,
NetJets main Ops are based in LIS, crews spread everywere...but I think the main base is still LIS?!!I am not sure.
I think the new DFO or CP made a few changes.

To talk about bases is a bit misleading. While there are maintenance and stock bases there really is no such thing as far as crew are concerned. The requirement is for you to live within one hour of a 'major' airport.

Having said that Luton, Northolt and Farnborough are the main airports for London.

Progression through the fleets has recently been reviewed. Most new hires will start on one of the small cabin fleets (Bravo or Excel) as F/O. After a minimum of a year they may bid to move on to the mid-size fleet and a year later the large cabin fleet. After that their first command would be back on the small fleet.

Given the number of lovely new machinery on order I would guess that there will be some direct hiring going on though. Depends upon your experience I suppose.
