Ferry aircraft
I would be interested to know people's experiences flying for ferry companies. Are there any crooks out there to be aware of? Do you have any top tips for drawing up contracts for such flying? Are you normally employed by the ferry company, self-employed or some other contract?

OK, I'll start off then...
Ferryair (owned by P K) owe me a large sum of money for expenses when working for them.
They have never disputed that fact and have given "cheque's in the post" and "I'll send it electronically now" excuses on numerous ocasions. I remain unpaid and the threat of court action has still not yielded results. As they have only recently registered as a Limited company I can't believe that they would risk forced closure by non payment, but without any possible grounds for defence I can't imagine why they would want to incur costs of defending my claim.
Would anyone who had similar experiences care to enlighten me as to what I have missed or what I can do further?

I've worked for one of the larger companies for several years, but eventually gave up on getting fair T&C and left when a training bond 'offered' reminded me too much of the feudal system.
Generally, they paid their freelancers well, albeit a bit slow sometimes. When a freelance crew was severely injured in a car accident with a taxi abroad, the day-to-day business at home was more important than going there to support the guys. Discuss such mishaps and get your agreement in writing before you go.
Also, consider to get (partial) advance payment. It is quite common for ferry companies to be paid up front, so they have the money sitting in the bank by the time leave.

Having read the comments on the BMAA forum it indicates that PK has made no real attempt to pay any debts by sending a partial payment to anyone. Small Claims Court is the best bet as you will win and it concentrates the mind for all as CCJs have long term effect. BMAA still accept him 'advertising' as a Ferry Co!
