ACJ or BBJ
Hey
Can anyone clarify which is the better aircraft for VIP the ACJ or the BBJ? Ie for longest flying time without refuelling stops etc
Can they both do south america? How about CPT as well or even Beijing?
I have looked around some BBJ's and seen some ACJ's as well and think that the BBJ's look a whole lot better interior wise.
Obviousily the ACJ has the advantage of being stripped out and then sold as a airliner over the BBj
Would be grateful for any information that you guys had.
Thanks
FLC

I would have thought in terms of interior it depends on where the aircraft is kitted out, and by whom. I don't think either Airbus or Boeing generally install interiors themselves, but that companies such as Jet Aviation, etc. do this kind of work. Have been on a few BBJs belonging to various operators and no two interiors I've seen have been identical. Various interiors for both the BBJ and ACJ are shown here. Can't say I know much about performance issues though.

Hey Mutt
Thanks for pointing that one out,
from UK to those places
Have seen a couple of ACJ interiors cant say that they were anything on the BBJ ones that I have been on. Didn't think that their was much option for the ACJ interiors.
Anyway thanks for any information would be most appreciated

Airbus make the ACJ available with 12 seats only.

The ACJ (optional?) is also fitted with airstairs but access to the holds is more difficult.

There is no easy answer to this, for example the BBJ ONE company holds the record for the longest flight http://www.boeing.com/commercial/bbj...0201_0409.html
SEATTLE, April 9, 2002—Showing that the Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) is the best choice for long-range executive travel, a recently delivered BBJ flew the farthest distance yet for a BBJ: 6,854 nautical miles from Seattle to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in 14 hours 12 minutes.
That particular aircraft was purchased with a mission requirement of Saudi - Japan, it therefore has an extremely light interior.
It you are an operator of a large size corporate jet, you should be able to convince Boeing and Airbus to conduct proper studies for your actual mission requirement.
Good Luck.
