Minium Hours for KingAir 350 Command
Hi, guys !
What do you think should be the minimum hours to qualify for a King Air 350 Command Position in a private Flight Department.
Non-Commercial Operation.
Itīs not for a new hire, itīs for upgrade with already 700hrs as First Officer on-type.
Thank you for your quick response.

Its usually insurance company that set the minimums. I would guess 1000-2000 hrs. 700 hrs on type helps a lot and will lower requirements.

Thanx for quick reponse.
Forget to say, that I have now 1600hrs, 700 on the KingAir 350, 1300 Multi-Eng and 1300 IFR.
I also think, thatīs going to be enough.
Looking for more input from other Flight Departments.
The reason for the question was, that 1 CPT is leaving the Company and our Flight OPS Manager would like to upgrade the First Officers but our boss will see at least 3000hrs.

in the pre JARFCL days one needed 2200 hrs to get an ATPL in LBA contry - thats what we still use as a minimum - despite the fact we donīt have KingAirs anymore...I think it varies very much with the person and the routes you operate.
Do you use FlightSafety (or FinnAir) ? If so, youīre far better off and much more prepared for a command...if not, try to get the boss to let you have the simtraining.
OT: is Arndt a captain at your flight department ?

With respect, a question like this shows that you may not be ready for Command. Hours does not equal ability, I know of many people with 1 hour's experience, three thousand times over. I'd suggest that the Boss has promoted a "reet Numpty" in the past. For what it is worth, many airlines promote right to left at 2,500 hours plus one year in the company (ie a couple of nicely flown recurrent checks).

With respect to your post, piltdown man !
Able or not able was not the question.
I was just looking for input from other Flight Departments probably operating the same size of aircraft about their requirements.
If you want to change somebodies thoughts you need to have some qualified details.
Thanx

You asked a question - expect some different opinions. Nothing wrong with Piltdown's response IMO. Go talk with the boss - tell him you're the man. Good luck & keep us posted.
