Hawker 800 type rating (FAA)

Anyone out there that can say with reasonable accuracy what the cost of an FAA type rating on a Hawker 800 might be?

Someone (an aircraft salesman) told me that Flight-Safety quoted him close to US$ 30K for an initial to FAA-type course. Seems very high to me, he knows that I already have an ATP with several transport jet type ratings and more PIC jet hours then I will ever need.

I will be calling Flight Safety myself but have to wait till after the weekend, so I'd appreciate any info.

Thanks,

That seems high.
I would encourage you to stay clear of Flight Safety.
Call Simuflite in Dallas, Tx.
You probably need to speak to Camille Giraldo or Cora Starks.
My guess would be the price is around half of what you were told.
Good luck.

May be a bit far for you but try CAE in Dubai they have a 125 sim and offer good prices, its a nicer place to be than in Dallas. ive been to both and much prefer dubai anytime. They even pick you up in a chauffeur driven car every day and high quality hotels at good prices on the beach great place

Hey Flufdriver

I did the course in TX last year with Simuflite.
They were excellant and if you have a car down there its great.
Cost was in the region of €11,000
Some very good hotels have deals with simuflite and transport is part of the deal, I was very pleased with the whole lot.
Cora is the woman you need to talk to @ Simuflite.

Good luck

Thanks for all the info, good stuff!

I must admit this is the first time anyone has advised to stay clear of Flight-Safety, that is not to say that one shouldn't check the other players in the field. I will call the Simu-flite people.

Dubai is a bit far away coming from the Caribbean and I can survive without a beach for 2-3 weeks. Although I did enjoy Dubai (both times that I was there)

Of course if they raise the retirement age to 65 in the US, (most of our flights go in and out of there) I can just stay in my airline job instead of starting a GA operation.
we shall see!

Thanks again.
