JAA to FAA whilst on Cit rating?
Have JAA ATPL and about to go to the states to get a Citation Ultra rating.
Thinking of getting my FAA ATPL flying test completed whilst i'm there so have to get FAA theory completed before I go.
Any helpful suggestions for the best place to get the theory done in the uk? (live in the southwest)
Is there a web site with their current FAA Q & A's?
Thanks

Here are 2 FAA test centers in UK.
UNITED KINGDOM NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE SOLOFLIGHT PILOT TRAINING CENTER HUMBERSIDE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Mrs Melanie Stewart

UNITED KINGDOM NORWICH AMERICAN FLIGHT TRAINING SERVICE NORWICH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Mr Thomas P. Hughston

Gleim books are good, and you can find questions updates on their web site.

Smudge10, the 2 centres mentioned by Flexjet probably have the computer prep as part of the FAA computer test system, spend a day there in front of the screen and take the test. The Type rating checkride will also give you an ATP provided you have your written test result sheet with you.

If you already hold a type rating on your JAA ticket then what are the additional requirements to get the type on your FAA ticket type while doing a JAA Proficiency Check (if any)?
I am assuming that one holds an FAA ATP and that the two rides can be done as one...
Cheers,
Will

Thanks fror your response but I don't currently hold a type rating on my JAA CPL/IR.
From other sources I believe the following to be true, having already completed the JAA theory: (Don't quote me on it).
FAA ATPL = 1500 hours +
Less than 1500 hours TT:
1. Sit both FAA PPL & CPL/IR exams.
2. Take pass certificate to FAA/TRE.
3. Check ride completed during Type Rating and put onto licence
by CAA after the required (in aircraft) touch & go's have been
completed. (Subject to TRE's permission).
1500 hours TT or more
1. Sit FAA ATPL exams.
2. Take pass certificate to FAA/TRE.
3. Check ride completed during Type Rating and put onto licence
by CAA after the required (in aircraft) touch & go's have been
completed. (Subject to TRE's permission).
I have less than 1500 hours so guess I will wait till I have, as the route seems a lot easier.
Thanks again.
Would welcome crit if valid.

Smudge10,
Thanks for your input!
My situation is this:
I hold a JAA ATPL as well as an FAA ATP and on my JAA license I have a type rating that I would also like to have on my FAA ticket.
And my question is this:
Can this be done when I do my recurrent at FSI and if so then are there any extra requirements on top of those required by the JAA to complete the proficiency check?
I've heard that your JAA PC "ride" and the FAA type ride is about the same. Is this correct?
Anyone have an answer for this one?
Cheers,
Will

As far as CaeSimuflite in the states have informed me, as long as you take your FAA ATP licence with you on your recurrent training you can be assessed for both at the same time and its purely a case of submitting it to the FAA to have it put on your licence afterwards.
Don't quote me but that was the general jist I got from Simuflite.

popped into FSi Long Beach yesterday - they confirmed that's all you need to do.

Mission accomplished over here - do you want that book I suggested bringing back with me
