Flying to Ukraine
Hello Guys
My boss plans to go in Ukraine for his business, with our BE90.
Am told I must plan for all expenses in Dollars, Cash ... Any one to confirm ?
Could you also confirm I may need a local "navigator" to speak russian on the Radio.
What are the usual destination over there for business aviation ? What are the airfield to be avoided at any cost ?
Many thanks
All tips and advices welcome.

There is no problems to fly in Ukraine. All major destinations are speaking english and no navigators are needed. If you have a contract with someone like Universal your fees can be charged through them. Otherwice pay in cash with US dollars. Where to Ukraine you need to go?
We used to go in Kiev to downtown airport called Zuljany instead Borispol what is far away from Kiev. All major airports has handling services available for very reasonable price. Odessa has Aviaprima, Sergey Baibarza: [email protected] and he can give you all required info from Ukraine.

Enjoy Ukraine, very hospitable folks, and I mean very!
No probs operating there these days, local help ( read handling ) is still useful unless you speak Russian of sorts.
Most agencies have an affiliation with Universal now and it's generally smooth until the bill arives. Always get quotations in writing and check your invoices.
Finally, cash is still king, and he who pays the piper always calls the tune.

Don't forget your visa, though.... They will let you stay without one, but only at the airport hotel in Kiev Borispol, which is a little bit "dumpy"... Getting a visa is no problem, and since last year there is no invitation required anymore even for a 1-year visa...
