Herod 7th March 2012 15:31

Told you it was easy. I last went there in 2004, operating a commercial 737 on a military charter. The WRAF controller asked me if I was familiar with Akrotiri. I could truthfully reply "not since 1975", which could well have been before she was born. She didn't seem able to think of a reply to that. I saw the black aircraft that wasn't there in '75, still wasn't there in '04. ;)

Tankertrashnav 8th March 2012 09:19

Regret that on all the numerous visits I made to Akrotiri I never once saw the black aircraft that wasn't there.

OK, new one for the thread

Take a look at male half of a flighty pair.

(airfield)

Lightning Mate 8th March 2012 09:25

Morning Ttn. :)

Obvious question - UK?

Wanna nice pic of a black aeroplane?

NutherA2 8th March 2012 15:28

Gander?.........OH if correct

Herod 8th March 2012 16:48

"As I was Taxiing, with care,
I saw a 'plane that wasn't there.
It wasn't there again today.
I wonder where it goes away?"
(with acknowledgements)

Tankertrashnav 8th March 2012 16:53

Yes A2 - Gander it was.

Nice one Herod :ok:

LM - As you see, it wasn't UK. Check your PM's ref your picture.

Open house has been offered.

Herod 9th March 2012 19:24

Well, it's been 24 hours, so if I may: You could make an awful lot of Stratocasters from this. (Airfield)

Herod 10th March 2012 19:16

24 hours again. Time for a clue. Check out Fender's website, and take a look at the Eric Clapton Stratocaster.

Tankertrashnav 10th March 2012 20:19

Do you mean I've wasted several hours trying to make an anagram out of 'Stratocasters'? :*

Herod 10th March 2012 20:32

Yep; it's not the Costerat Star. Anyway, that sounds like a ship. ;)

NutherA2 10th March 2012 22:41

Aldergrove? Time for bed so OH if decrypt is satisfactory.

Herod 11th March 2012 15:59

Correct. Apparently, Alder is the most common wood used in Stratocasters, and you could make a lot if you had a grove of them. Open House has been declared.

Herod 11th March 2012 17:40

For TTN. Some sad pillock is busy using fake names and sending PMs. One of them is tankretrashnav (note spelling). You might want to take a look at the thread running on the military forum. Regards, Herod.

Tankertrashnav 12th March 2012 16:11

Thanks Herod - I've had the heads up on that one, and the mods know about it and have banned it (and many others). :ok:

Lightning Mate 12th March 2012 19:01

There is also someone calling himself "lightingmate".

However, he is genuine - just make sure you do not confuse me with him, as has ocurred in the past.

There is also a certain "newt" ...........................he may appear to be a certain type of lizard which lives in water.

He has often been seen walking on all fours, but has never managed to walk on water or glue himself to the ceiling......................:E:E

...to the floor yes.................

Tankertrashnav 13th March 2012 10:58

Meanwhile we've drifted from the challenge. Nice easy one to get us going again

Large Gordon's, Benny!

Ridge Runner 13th March 2012 11:51

Tankertrashnav 13th March 2012 12:06

Open House has been offered

Lightning Mate 13th March 2012 13:07

'artnoon all. :)

Since nobody is having a go at my silhouette challenge, I've
come over to this playground.

If you move very very slowly, you could fall into one of these.

...airfield...

NutherA2 14th March 2012 14:29

In Cambridgeshire there's a WWII airfield called Snailwell ?
