Caribbean?
|
More like Maldives with that white coral sand.
|
Not the Caribbean or the Maldives, but the latter is closer.

The manufacturer of this aeroplane owned the subject aerodrome for a very brief period indeed before WW11.......... |
maybe - Barton in the Clay - Bedfordshire ?
|
A very good answer - you are certainly on the trail - but not there yet.......

Park Farm aka Eaton Bray?
OH if correct |
UV has it with Eaton Bray. descol you were only a few miles away having identified the Marendaz Trainer which was built at Barton le Clay.
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....edce834fa0.png Above extracted from 'On The Wire' Eaton Bray and D.A. Russell by the Late Richard Riding. There was also a 'Sportsdrome' with Tethered Racing, Horse Racing and Motor Bike Racing...... https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....867f66c94a.jpg Tethered Racing. Image: Late Richard Riding. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....517be1da20.png 'The Frog' manufactured by Dooling Bros. Extremely rapid of the period 40s-50s. An interesting link here: https://onthewire.co.uk/bray4.htm UV has declared Open House. |

This airfield is no longer in use. In a European country, but not in Europe. |
chimbu beat me by a minutes, so I've withdrawn my challenge.
|
"In a European country, but not in Europe."
Now that's a very careful description  - the only places that come to mind are either the countries which physically stretch outside Europe (Russia & Turkey) or those where the whole of their empire are considered part of the home country - France, Spain, maybe Denmark....................... Is it one of the former or the latter? |
The Azores / Rabo de Peixe?
|
Is it one of the former or the latter? https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....abb0dfd2df.jpg It was once quite a busy airfield. |
Looks like a bad attack of 'Delhi Belly'........
|
Not the sub-continent, but warmer than continental Europe.

Spanish enclave of Ceuta?

Thanks Chimbu,
Now this: Sorry wrong picture (KLM never flew to this airport yet, just a wrong photo added by some newspaper to an article about this airport). But I have more: https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....40ae7e5be.jpeg |
is it in the American hemisphere?
|
Judging by the heat shield on the Quonset hut, I assume somewhere hot?
|
Yes hot
but not American hemisphere |
Africa perhaps?
|
I've been trying to make out the blurred writing on the end of the Quonset Hut. I can make out "Commerce Bank Pte.", which should narrow it down.
Singapore use "Pte." but I very much doubt this aerodrome is in that country! PS It could of course be "Pty." which has Australian connections. |
Oddly I believe Cambodia uses Pte.

Big place francophone Africa - the last picture reminded me of a couple of places in Angola but that's not French. The design looks late 60's early 70's and remarkably small for anything constructed by ADP or by a "Father of his People" leader - which is the default setting in those parts.
Does it still look the same now? "Airport " rather then "Aeroport" ........... very interesting The only place I can think of where you get a French/English mixture is Cameroon - which was merger of UK & French colonies - Yaounde is an International Airport" and Kriti is an Airport as well I believe............................. |
