The company ceased operations when O-BLAN ditched in the English Channel in August 1921"

never heard of the Brussels airport but apparently it was also known as Haren - Google it and there's Bear's second picture.................. now used for NATO offices

As I understand there was a dispute over payment to the construction company.

I thought this one would run for a while but forgot that Chimbu might look in - his knowledge of modern obscure airports is encyclopediac!

Yes it Oecussi in the E Timor enclave. An obscene amount of money was wasted on upgrading what had been a useful and proportionate airstrip with a twice daily (if you're lucky) flight to Dilli in a Twotter or similar- in one of the poorest countries in Asia. Its rumoured that the airgates were only used on the opening day (see overhead picture) - really is tragic.

Similar to the waste we saw at Erbil in 2006 and the Baghdad ATM system and Mosul tower we saw on the same inspection. The latter two could never be commissioned due to "errors" in the contractual arrangements.
