ZK-XNZ, formerly NZ1828 is snug as a bug in her hangar at Ashburton. She had an engine run a couple of weeks ago.

Great Photo's John, hopefully she will be flying soon.:ok:

Hi Guys,
Just been contacted by Paul Gillies, owner of C/N:04514 N104DV. he needs to sell it ASAP It has been on the market for some time. http://dh104preservation.webs.com/ap...h-dha-for-sale Cheers, Dan http://dh104preservation.webs.com/ph...tion/Dove1.jpg |
Walking home this evening as it was getting pretty dark (what a sunset!), heard what sounded very much like a pair of Gipsy Queens - had to have been a Dove! Heading west from the Biggin Hill direction, probably overflew Kenley. All I could see was the anti collision beacon winking seductively...
Wow, that is very impressive aircraft recognition, it being pitch bloody dark at the time, it was indeed a Dove, G-OPLC. |

Hi People,
I would like to announce that we have some exciting news for the DH.104 Dove Preservation Group. We have a new logo and I would like to thank our good friend Johnny Fernandez for donating a considerable amount of time designing It, as I think you will agree it is a striking looking logo. The new logo represents the beginning of the next chapter for the DPG. We are now officially registered as a not for profit organisation and have acquired two airframes for static restoration: C/N: 04097, Manufactured in 1947 the aircraft was registered YI-ABK, TJ-ACA, D-100, G-ATGI, VQ-ZJC & VH-ABM. C/N: 04486, Manufactured in 1957 the aircraft was registered as PH-ION, G-ASMX & VH-DHN. Stay tuned for more restoration updates. Terrific news and a great site. Best wishes in getting the Doves airborne again.

At Malaga Airport on Wednesday - saw what looked like the hulk of a Dove used a fire practice wreck. Anyone know anything about it?

Here's a photo of G-APSK at Biggin in 1974 (and plenty more photos of Doves in my Flickr photostream): https://www.flickr.com/photos/489750...-9vSL3t-8jyzBJ

VH-WST at Bankstown in June 1973 Photo by Dave Eyre This one was operated by Skyway Airlines on a commuter run out of Sydney to Gunnedah Quirindi and Wee Waa The owner of the company and the Dove was Alan Baker from Wee Waa. He was big in cotton. WST suffered a midair over Bankstown in March 1974. The other aircraft was a PA30 Twin Comanche. Fatal to all - one in the Dove and three in the PA30. Alan employed me to fly WST for three months in the latter half of 1973. It was a single pilot operation. Having learned on Chippies, it became apparent that the Dove had handling characteristics in some ways as sweet as the Chippie. See Geoff Goodall's website for a detailed history of all Doves in service in Australia. http://www.goodall.com.au/australian-aviation/dh104/dh104dove.html |
