Death of a DC-10 at Manston
Posted in the History section as that's exactly what 5X-JOE is about to become!
This DC-10-30CF first flew on 9th July 1973 and through its career operated with Sabena, World Airways/Cargo, JAT Yugoslav Airlines, Zambia Airways and finally DAS Air Cargo. It had C/N 47906 and Line number 115. I would never go to the "boneyards" in the United States to see old aeroplanes in mothballs or being broken up as it would be just too sad.
To see the Queen of the Skies "The mighty DC10" in that condition is even sadder. |
Very sad to see her like this.
Very sad to see her like this. I spent 3 years of my life working on her at gatwick airport. Good old Das air days.

I wonder how long before the other frames adjacent to the DC-10 will be scrapped ? It makes you wonder why they are/were left so long assuming that that they wouldn't fly again and could have value realised against them in some form.

What a sad day, I have spend a lot of time sat in that cockpit, great memories, Das Air, end of an era.
