Looks like an intake above an intake. Something Russian perhaps?

sabredog 19th Sep 2012 08:50

It is indeed Russian,Mel.

Noyade 19th Sep 2012 21:25

I would greatly appreciate another clue Terry.

Prior to Mel's observation above I was thinking on the terms of the Vickers Viking or that dorsal "elephant ear" seen on the Aussie Vampire. It you were to look facing it, would the "hole" be circular or rectangular with rounded edges?

intake above an intake.
A jet aircraft?

Kitbag 19th Sep 2012 22:47

Su 15 Flagon? They always seem to have a mass of intakes.

Karlark 20th Sep 2012 02:35

I'm going for the Myasishchev M-50 Bounder:

Are we looking at a biplane with a 4.. or 3? cylinder inverted engine with the propellor removed?

edit: Walter Mikron III engine?

Noyade 21st Sep 2012 21:29

G'day Karl!

edit: Walter Mikron III engine?
Good edit mate! :ok: The air scoops are facing forward and the prop has been removed.

Not a biplane. Rather unique wing - it all folded into a transportable package...
