Good scratching mate - it is the Brigand. And it's open house.

SincoTC 31st Jul 2013 21:54

Kitbag 3rd Aug 2013 06:45

Seems to have something of the Heinkel 45 about it

SincoTC 3rd Aug 2013 07:27

Morning Kitbag,

I was just thinking about putting up some clues due to lack of responses to help this and my cockpit along :)

Afraid it's not a Heinkel 45, it's several years earlier and I'll go as far as to say it's not German!

It has a single cantilever wing and its purpose was non military.

Noyade 3rd Aug 2013 21:32

G'day Trevor! :)

I suspect the Hanriot HD-22...?

(Thanks for the get-well wishes!)

SincoTC 3rd Aug 2013 21:56

Krakatoa 14th Aug 2013 03:22

SincoTC 14th Aug 2013 05:42

Sorry Krakatoa, it's not from America (north or south)!

Lightning Mate 14th Aug 2013 06:48

Boulton Paul P.75 Overstrand ?

Noyade 14th Aug 2013 07:46

G'day Trevor.

I'll try for a bit of Sidestrand?

Saw this on the net, although the struts don't seem to match...

http://i43.tinypic.com/ogfk8y.jpg

In the early 1930s a Sidestrand Mk III was fitted with Bristol Pegasus IM3 engines.

SincoTC 14th Aug 2013 08:49

Evening Graeme,

I'll try for a bit of Sidestrand?

Saw this on the net, although the struts don't seem to match...
It is a Boulton & Paul Sidestrand III Well done :D

I think the strut mismatch is due to the fact that my "bit" is looking towards the fuselage, whereas the shot you found was taken from under the fuselage looking outboard and the cowling/exhaust pipes are identical to the the one in my source (see link below). However, I do believe that the caption is wrong because the Pegasus cowlings, possibly trialled on the III, but fitted to it's later development, the Overstrand (as mentioned above by David) show numerous"blisters" over the engine's rocker gear.

This Sidestrand was fitted with Bristol Jupiter XF engines and tested with "The Boulton and Paul Townend Ring" combined with an exhaust collector (see link below)

Karlark 15th Aug 2013 02:04

Good Morning Trevor. Is it the Caproni Ca.335 / Sabca S.47?

SincoTC 15th Aug 2013 05:48

Hello Karl,

It certainly is, well done :D

I thought a Belgian one-off might have lasted a while, but when I realised that it was really a Caproni, I thought you'd surely get it at first sight!! :)
