An equally good evening to you, dook! Do I detect an Italian twang in your last piece of information? Is it Comiso?

dook 15th Aug 2019 21:10

Italy it is - standby whilst I look for Comiso….

Not Mafia island.

North Italy.

jensdad 15th Aug 2019 21:12

Down in Sicily, opposite end of Italy from Hungary :)

jensdad 15th Aug 2019 21:14

Oops, messages got crossed there. I'll get my thinking cap on...

dook 15th Aug 2019 21:18

I am afraid I have to call OH (if correct)

Edit: I see i am not correct.
I leave it to Fellow explorers

dook 15th Aug 2019 21:36

A brief appearance - have you been away ?

Self loading bear 15th Aug 2019 21:42

Busy for work in Lux again.
so mark that region for future challenges.

Asturias56 16th Aug 2019 09:08

The only new airport that has been planned in N Italy that I'm aware of is the Chinese backed "Europe1" which was planned to be near the planned Breschia Verona high speed train line

I can't find an exact location - but it was going to be huge Project Watch - Europe 1 - Airport World Magazine

Seems to have been around Montechiari where there are already two fields - Ghedi AFB and Breschia-Montechiari but neither of them look anything like the GE image above

dook 16th Aug 2019 09:16

Morning Asturias.

You are getting warm.

Asturias56 16th Aug 2019 09:32

well if it was going to be a new airport it has to be some distance from any current major airport as I don't think anyone is planning to close any of the current ones...

N or South of the River Po?

dook 16th Aug 2019 09:56

South of the Po and almost exactly south of Ferrara.

Try Tuscany. :)

Asturias56 16th Aug 2019 10:40

Aeroporto di Sienna.....................

My landlord would have a fit at describing it as "North Italy" - it's halfway to the Hell that is Rome in his book................

doubt it 'll ever get permission to expand TBH

dook 16th Aug 2019 12:56

Apologies for the delay - I have been out for lunch.

Sienna it is and over to you.

Asturias56 16th Aug 2019 14:31

Let's see...................... I noticed this a few weeks ago when traveling by - no longer used as an airfield I'm afraid

Looks like the back of a Porsche Carrera
so probably not India?
I hope you have more clues or photos?

Asturias56 16th Aug 2019 17:02

Hmm post didn't work try again.....................

Now nicely landscaped in places - lots of offices etc

dook 16th Aug 2019 17:10

That's not a clue mate - just a field of trees.

That hangar looks fairly big - airships ?

Self loading bear 16th Aug 2019 17:21

Tough i think Northern Europe
Germany?

dook 16th Aug 2019 17:48

JENKINS 16th Aug 2019 19:28

Wild guess at RNAS Culham, with perhaps a Mainhill hangar?

Self loading bear 16th Aug 2019 19:37

dook 16th Aug 2019 19:40

St. Merrin ?

Asturias56 16th Aug 2019 20:38

Jenkins has it - Culham (RNAS Hornbill) it is

Lasted less than 5 hours so obviously not a real tough one............................

There were a load of other clues coming but people seem to want to get an answer immediately - I aim t make it tough

JENKINS 16th Aug 2019 20:51

Thanks, definite FAA feel about the building, and I am familiar with the Culham countryside. Now this, not much left.

Bed time. A Spitfire field in WW2.

chevvron 17th Aug 2019 05:43

Mount Farm - USAAF Spitfires?

JENKINS 17th Aug 2019 08:00

Very fast, good morning. Yes, that is the farm itself. Was not aware of Glenn Miller connection, last performance was here. Newly built village on domestic site is Berinsfield, Berin after local patron saint and field as a reference to USAAF airfield naming.

And very close to Culham, the previous effort. All yours.

chevvron 17th Aug 2019 10:11

dook 17th Aug 2019 10:23

Flap40 17th Aug 2019 10:38

I think that's Schiphol.

dook 17th Aug 2019 10:43

It isn't a challenge.

Just a hint to always keep something up ones' sleeve.

Flap40 17th Aug 2019 10:44

;)I know ;)

dook 17th Aug 2019 10:50

dook 17th Aug 2019 13:18

I think i saw this one lately while searching for the Erfuhrt challenge...

dook 17th Aug 2019 13:39

You might have seen something similar but it's not in the former DDR.
