Afternoon...looks like a Flitzer...the Z-2 Seeschwalbe?

Lightning Mate 20th Aug 2011 12:40

Artnoon Ken.:)

Bingo!!

Please take the thread. :ok::ok:

skytrain10 20th Aug 2011 12:41

Thanks LM. Stand-by, just preparing one.

Here we go:

Lightning Mate 20th Aug 2011 13:33

News...

A Red Arrow has crashed here - no details as yet.

skytrain10 20th Aug 2011 13:36

Thanks LM....just read the BBC news flash on the net.

Lightning Mate 20th Aug 2011 13:38

Let's hope the pilot has joined a very exclusive club.

Your challenge - are they tip tanks or sensor pods?

skytrain10 20th Aug 2011 13:44

are they tip tanks or sensor pods?
Tip tanks.

Edit, ignore that....they are NOT sensor pods, but there is nothing in the aircrafts description that I have found to say what they are.

Lightning Mate 20th Aug 2011 13:46

Thanks mate.

We have a new member of the Martin Baker club.:ok:

HappyPass 20th Aug 2011 13:48

We have a new member of the Martin Baker club
http://factoryjoe.s3.amazonaws.com/e...-0141-whew.gif...........:ok:

skytrain10 20th Aug 2011 13:49

We have a new member of the Martin Baker club
Excellent:ok: Gather it came down near Castlepoint, hope no one hurt on the ground?

Lightning Mate 20th Aug 2011 13:51

Near Hurn Bridge just South of the airport.

Is yours a twin jet bomber?

but there is nothing in the aircrafts description that I have found to say what they are.
They appear to have little lateral depth, so I'm wondering if they are simply experimental wing end-plates.

skytrain10 20th Aug 2011 13:53

Is yours a twin jet bomber?
Not exactly...twin prop transport. Props themselves hidden by the fuselage.

so I'm wondering if they are simply experimental wing end-plates.
Could be...seeing if I can find out.

Lightning Mate 20th Aug 2011 14:08

If it's propeller driven, then I can only assume they are two-bladed, or else one blade would be visible somewhere.

skytrain10 20th Aug 2011 14:16

Yep, 2 bladed props...they were in the horizontal position in the photo.

To make life interesting....this is the prototype of an aircraft we have had before, BUT it bears little resemblance to the production model. So I figure I am justified in posting!

Lightning Mate 20th Aug 2011 14:39

Needle in a haystack job then. :\

RegDep 20th Aug 2011 15:06

Skytrain, let's try this: What was the biggest/most prominent change they made to the production series?

RegDep 20th Aug 2011 15:07

Hallo hesham, tell us what it is!

skytrain10 20th Aug 2011 15:10

What was the biggest/most prominent change they made to the production series?
Most obvious...the production model was low wing!

RegDep 20th Aug 2011 15:15

production model was low wing
Well, that IS something :ooh:.

Edit: Maybe he says next that it was four-engine, twin-tail and taildragger, too. Or all that plus a jet :suspect:

HappyPass, say something!

evansb 20th Aug 2011 16:01

Evangel 4500 prototype, damn it!

HappyPass 20th Aug 2011 16:05

Something.
Partly I'm busy with some domestic hassles, partly I don't know what to say.
I can't imagine why a good and stable high wing design should be changed into a floating-prone low wing.
First thought when I first saw the silhouette was "maritime recon".
Second was that the nose gear looks like the one on a B-29.
Third was third world country.
:bored::confused::suspect:

Edit:disregard... :p

RegDep 20th Aug 2011 16:06

Why the questionmark?

I know and you know that skytrain's picture is a flipped, greyscaled picture of an Evangel 4500 prototype. My problem is that I learned it from your post :{

AND believe it or not, the Evangel 4500 IS a taildragger :ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh:

skytrain10 20th Aug 2011 16:15

Evangel 4500 prototype ?
That's the one Brian :ok:. Despite the obvious differences most of the parts from the prototype were used to construct the first production aircraft.
Here is N4501L as the prototype:
http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...r/e7462ed2.jpg

And here is what happens when you re-arrange the parts!
http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...r/a1ec8371.jpg

evansb has control

evansb 20th Aug 2011 16:26

Thanks. My memory is such that I had to start the search from scratch on the Evangel, as I had no immediate recollection of the type. Here is the next challenge:
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r.../NO_ARTIST.jpg

RegDep 20th Aug 2011 16:28

Yours is MÁVAG "Héja" II, Brian.

evansb 20th Aug 2011 16:29

RegDep is spot on:ok: You have control.

RegDep 20th Aug 2011 16:32

Thanks Brian!
