Yes, I had just gathered that.

One-seater? Open cockpit? 1920s. Would probably remember if had seen such a tail fin... :hmm:
|
That's lucky, I was just about to go offline while I went home!
Sorry Reg, I left the "glazing" showing and the strut outlines to help a little, obviously the former didn't!! it's a closed cockpit and two seats. Correct about the 20's, but don't neglect the strong clue I gave in my answer to LM! |
I saw the glazing but wasn't sure if that was just a windshield (which would have sent me astray). Asking, not proposing. Same was for the seats, have been looking for a two-seater with closed cockpit, but thought I should check.
Elusive. Not from a mainstream country? (saw your edit: Have taken it into account - I think got it first glance - but so far empty trawl...) :suspect:. |
Not elusive, well not like some!!
It is from a mainstream country and well known manufacturer Not on wiki though, except a red entry in the list of aircraft(A-Z), so not that obscure! Edited to clarify the remark about wiki. The manufacturer certainly is on there, but this little fellow isn't listed or mentioned in the main entry, despite it being one of the first half dozen aircraft, perhaps because it found no market. |
Hello you two - I'm back home.
this one lays a claim to the use of a classic section! I'll punt a Yank..... |
Hi there, NB'd your light back on!
Correct on both counts! Clock is ticking now, shouldn't be too long, come on Reg :) I'm about to bugger off home via shops for a few comestibles, back in about an hour! |

Just you and me then Reg......... :)
|
Just spotted that as I went to shut down and was about to edit it!
It should have read "being one of their first half dozen aircraft" :O Seeya soon! I'm back and on the next page guys |

Douglas Commuter
Commuter 1926 = 2pChwM; 35hp Anzani or 60hp Wright-Gale; span: 37'3" load: 450# v (60hp): 76. Wooden construction, fabric covering; foldable wings. First airplane to make use of Clark-Y aerofoil, and first Douglas venture in the light aircraft field. POP: 1, c/n 150. 2pChwM "POP: 1" 192 Edit to draw your attention to two pertinent facts: 1. Airfoil is supposed to be the American spelling, aerofoil the British one (Aerofiles is of US aircraft) 2. PPRuNe spell checker complains when you type aerofoil. |
.....:D....

Ach, ze blaa-blaa-blaa mean, ja?
|
Congratulations Reg, it is the Douglas Commuter.
Sorry about the spelling, but it's correct for an American aircraft or do I mean airplane!! I state the facts, maybe using alternatives (it's not my fault if they choose the proper way of spelling things, rather than their own is it), but I usually don't put exactly what's in the entry as we don't want it to be too easy do we? :E I alway run my checks trying all spellings, including hyphens and plural/singular in the case of float/pontoon for example! At least this one's got 2pChwM in its entry :). RegDep has Control :D:D |
Thanks TC.
Not your spelling :). You said section. Just a moment, I'll ascertain..... LM e-mail cyberborne. Open House. |
I can't be everywhere all the time!
Standby Reg - I'm moving.......... |
