150th anniversary celebrations 5th & 6th July

I see that there are plans to re-enact my footman's historic first flight across Brompton Dale Yorkshire this coming Saturday 5th July acording to the Brough Branch of the RAeS.

My descendants Sir Digby Cayley, Mrs Alison Maloney and Mrs Belinda Evans will be there along with Mrs Evelyn Semlyen who is a direct descendant of John Appleby (Britains first pilot)

Derek Piggot is booked to give the after dinner speech at a Victorian dinner in Brompton Hall that evening.

This splendid endeavour is sponsored by BAe Systems Brough and Virgin Atlantic who have arranged for a new replica of my Cayley Glider to be constructed

If the weather is kind this will be an event to rival our American cousins Kittyhawk celebrations later this year. Though 50 years later!

I understand Elvington is available to fly in so no excuse not to go.

Good luck to all taking part - and thank you

Sir George Cayley
