Ok Folks PJ has now read the VB book and been suitably 'informed'.
In fact VB* was only at Kenley for a fairly short time compared to the BoB at North Weald (not a haunt of the young PJ) where his* reputation was made.
The book rather confirms the folly of the Big wings over France syndrome, and sadly VB was a victim of this policy.
Suggest a quick trip to ABE books and get a copy of 'Wings Aflame' (paperback) well worth the trip. My copy winging its way to a North Weald man Sycamore for a check out. Does NW also have a VB AVE !!! (perhaps it should). Many well known names included in this missive, so an interesting rediscovery of the time.
